September Week 36 2015

I was on break from school this week! Between all of the breaks and the free studio time sometimes I don’t even feel like a student. I’ve been a bit sick the past week or so, but it hasn’t stopped me from doing anything. Michael and I went to the zoo again this week where we got to see a couple of British scientists give a presentation about sharks. For those of you who don’t know, I absolutely love sharks so it was incredibly cool for me.

Usually weekends are pretty quiet for me. It’s the time of the week that I teach the most so I like to take it pretty easy in between classes to stay on my game. But this weekend was different. After teaching on Friday evening, Michael and I went to the Aotea Center to see the ballet rendition of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We were in the cheap seats, but they were still plenty good! Plus, we later realized that that night was the six-month anniversary of our arrival in Auckland so I guess we accidentally got to celebrate it. The next day Michael worked and I met up with a friend of a friend who was in Auckland. It’s pretty cool meeting Coloradoans for the first time in New Zealand! Then Sunday Michael and made the drive west to Piha to meet up with some friends and go on a hike. The west coast is absolutely beautiful and very different from the calm east coast.
